One of the dominating features of Ostrava was completed and officially opened in 1986. During its existence it has become a significant sports-cultural centre and a sought-after facility for hosting national, European and world championships, concerts of the biggest music stars, sports events and other popular events.

Between 2003 and 2004 the Arena underwent reconstruction and modernization works. It was officially opened on 6th April 2004 with a concert performance by José Carreras.

Currently, the OSTRAVAR ARÉNA is one of the sports facilities in Ostrava. With a capacity of up to 12,500 spectators, it is one of the biggest multi-purpose arenas in the Czech Republic and thanks to its modern technical equipment, numerous options of internal arrangement and broad spectrum of offered services it can provide the perfect backdrop for even the most demanding events.
